Diltz photographed more than 250 album covers and thousands of publicity shots in the 1960s and 1970s, including the Morrison Hotel cover for The Doors. Other artists, whose fly-on-the-wall style portraits he’s known for, include musical icons such as Eagles, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, The Monkees, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, and Paul McCartney among many others. Diltz was the official photographer at the Woodstock festival in 1969 and his photos have appeared in films, books, magazines and newspapers. After nearly six decades, he remains active and continues to document the music scene.
The exhibition title is a nod to local music legend and arts supporter David Crosby who wrote the words and music for a song with the same name. A section of the gallery will showcase Crosby with photographs of his musical career through the decades.
